National Award for Design Presented to StoneWorks

Many of you who are local to the area know that StoneWorks of the Lowcountry is the premier resource for design, crafting and installation of natural stone in coastal South Carolina, but are you aware that they recently received GLOBAL recognition for their excellence? StoneWorks was tapped as a 2022 Pinnacle Award Winner for Kitchens by the Natural Stone Institute (NSI). With a current membership exceeding 2,000 in more than FIFTY COUNTRIES, NSI is a trade association representing every aspect of the natural stone industry.

StoneWorks’ award-winning kitchen was designed and created for the Volpe residence in Palmetto Bluff. This spectaular home features natural stone throughout its grand interior and especially in the kitchen, which is nothing short of a work of art. The client’s number one priority was to create a true “wow-factor” as visitors entered every room, especially the kitchen. Since this home sits adjacent to the world renowned Montage Palmetto Bluff Inn, and will serve as a high-end luxury rental property for area visitors, the bar was incredibly high to clear.

StoneWorks rose to the challenge, using Mont Blanc Quartzite, which is honed, not polished, and serves as a true statement stone. The stone’s cool white background is accented with charcoal veining, lending a sparkling sophistication throughout the kitchen. The Mont Blanc Quartzite was used not only in the countertops and full height backsplash, but was also installed on the island with a waterfall edge creating a stunning focal point of the kitchen.

The StoneWorks teams intricately measured, cut and fit the full-height backsplash around the range hood all the way to the ceiling. Two book-matched slabs were required with precise layout, in order to match the veins on the center seam, as well as the waterfall mitered panels. In addition, great care was taken not to chip those extremely brittle mitered edges when transporting the stone to the installation site.

StoneWorks' Rhonda Schwarz is presented the Pinnacle Award by Buddy Ontra, President of the Board of Directors for the Natural Stone Institute.

None of this would have been possible without the extreme dedication of every member of the StoneWorks team upholding the standard of excellence that the company has come to be known for in the Lowcountry and beyond.

The 2022 Pinnacle Awards presentation was held in Las Vegas Jan. 31, 2023 in conjunction with Stone Expo, a large natural stone industry trade show at Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Members of the StoneWorks team were honored to be in attendance to personally accept the award.
