After Installation

The silicone used on parts of your installation requires a full 24 hours curing time. Make sure to allow for that when scheduling a plumber. This is especially important when using a disposal device. A plumber will usually want to check the system before leaving, the vibration can result in a less than perfect seal between the sink and your granite. Mold / mildew and cabinet damage can result.

If you notice any rough or slightly raised spots on your counter, these can be easily removed with a single edge razor blade on granite. The razor will not scratch the material. The same can be done with marble, but very carefully. The razor will scratch a marble surface.

Your tops will have been sealed using StoneTech's Bulletproof sealer. (See Stone Care products) The sealer will help protect the stone from staining for three to five years before requiring additional application. For lighter colors, we recommend using the three year mark for re application.

Stone sealers do not create an impenetrable barrier. They help to resist stains and allow you some time to clean up the staining agent. If oils or coffee spills etc. are left long enough, they will seep into the stone's pores and create a stain.

If your stone does acquire a stain, all is not lost. Poultices can be used to pull the stain out. The process requires patience, but in most cases works successfully. Of course, you can always call StoneWorks for help.

For everyday cleaning, we recommend using StoneTech's Revitalizer cleaner. (See Stone Care products) It differs from products sold in the big box stores for several reasons. Revitalizer contains no wax, leaves no streaking, and helps to protect the stone with additional sealer. Waxy cleaners will provide a quick shine, but over time they create a build up. The headache is not worth it. The goal should be clean stone with very little buffing necessary. Our Revitalizer customers visit our showroom again and again long after their instalations to purchase more. It just works that well!
